Hey All,

Here are some brief bio facts on an amazing photographer!

Robert Parke-Harrison is an American Fine-Art Photographer. He received his B.E.A. at the Kansas City Art Institute and is M.F.A. at the University of New Mexico. He is known for his digital/analog hybrid images made in the directorial mode. He has started to explore color photos in some of his newer work. Some projects he is known for are: Architects Brother and Gray Dawn. He also co-works with his wife Shana. A full biography of them can be found at the website by clicking here.

He is personally, one of my favorite photographers. His photos are so dreamy and creepy, yet the photos, for me, draw me in. He has many recurring themes. He uses the enviroment, music, clouds, and even “listens” in many of his photos. They are all very creative, moody, edgy, and just plain Brilliant!!!

Some of my favorites of his are below. Remember, I do not own them, I’m simply using them for my blogging purposes. You can see his website here.

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you enjoy his photos just like I do!

Who was Ansel Adam? Ansel Adams is one of the most well-known and well liked photographers of all time. Even though he passed away more than 36 years ago he is still remembered as one of the most talented photographers. His photos have been sold worldwide.

Ansel Easton Adams was born on February 20, 1902 to Charles Adams and Olive Adams in San Francisco, California. Throughout his childhood he had a good education until he was rejected by private schools for being restless. He then was taught by his father and his aunt. He didn’t have a lot of friends but he was busy all day long exploring the Marin headlands. After the 1906 earthquake his family’s income became less and less throughout the next years, however they still managed.

When he was 12 to started to play the piano and expressed an interest in playing the piano has a profession. He taught himself to read, he also had a photographic memory which helped him a lot. However has he grew up he took up photography which became his passion. He also had a passion for hiking and the outdoor world. He joined the Sierra club when he was 17.

Adams married Virginia Best in 1928, she had inherited a studio from her father which Adams used constantly which is now named the Ansel Adams gallery, the Adams family still owns it today. He loved Yosemite Valley after visiting it when he was  a child; this is where he took most of his photos and where he became famous.

Throughout the following decades Ansel Adams become huge. He published many photos with his prints in them. he became one of the best photographers of the century. Since he is most known for his prints of the Sierras the Minarets in Inyo Nat. Forest, by Yosemite, were named after him and now it is called Ansel Adams Wilderness.

Below are some of his most famous prints:

Monolith, the Face of Half Dome

Rose and Driftwood

Clearing Winter Storm

Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico

The Tetons and the Snake River

He has many other prints, those are just some that he is known for.

Adams became bed ridden for 4 weeks after surgery to his leg. He recovered from that but he had a heart attack in April 1984 and passed away. He was survived his wife and 2 children, Michael and Anne, and 5 grandchildren.

Adams is still hailed as a photographer legend and is well known throughout the world.

Thanks,

Hello All,

I’ve done a little research to compile a list of the Top 5 Best Digital Camera Brands of 2010. Now keep in mind this is not necessarily true, it’s biased on some of my research. I personally wanted to see a list of the Top Brands but I couldn’t find one!!! So that’s why I took the initiative to compile a list for the 6 month stretch of 2010 we have right now.

I’m going to dive right in, below is my list. I will explain my reasoning’s as you read on.

My List:

1. Canon

2. Nikon

3. Sony

4. Panasonic

5.  Olympus

Now for the reasoning’s. You may disagree with me but this list was also compiled from few sources so it is definitely not accurate and it’s my list.

——————————————————————————————————————————

1. Canon

Canon is the Top Digital Camera Brand (for my sake lets call it TDCB10) for many reasons. First off it stands on the top because for 2009 its Revenue was over 34 Billion US Dollars. While it’s Net Income was about 1 Billion. It has also Sponsored over 30 Companies, Organizations, etc. worldwide and has had very good critical acclaim. Not to mention the majority of my friends have Canon cameras and they love them, the prices are fair too.

2. Nikon

Nikon stands at number 2 on the TDCB10 because of certain reasons. It made about 8 billion US dollars worldwide which is significantly lower than Canons 34 billion. However they have seen a rise in their products in 2010 during this horrible economy. They have also received good reviews of the majority of their cameras. They also created some of the first SLR cameras for NASA in the late 1990’s. They also manufacturer other products which other camera companies do not manufacture. And to be biased but my whole family (including me) has had Nikon cameras and they have been great.

3. Sony

Sony stands at number 3 on the TDCB10 because of many reasons. Sony actually has an annual income of about 80 Billion dollars which was more than Canons 34 billion, but Sony only has 437 million dollars of net income which is very low, that’s one reason why they come in at number 3. They are also famous for producing other electronics, not just cameras, which have also been known to be greener. However they have received a lot of criticism for some of their moves.

4.  Panasonic

Panasonic stands at number 4 on the TDCB10. Here are some reasons, first they have about 73 billion dollars in revenue but they only have about 4.5 billion dollars in revenue, which is still more than Sony. However Panasonic cameras have been known to produce the clear images that other camera brands can produce. This is the main reason why Panasonic is number 4.

5. Olympus

Olympus is number five on this list. Its revenue is notably lower than the other brands listed above, only about 12 billion US dollars. Its cameras have also been known not to produce the best images. It is very similar to Panasonic expect of the revenue.

—————————————————————————————————————————-

So that’s my list and my reasons. Now keep in mind this was from some sources and from my personal knowledge. In no way am I putting down the camera brands, I’m just simply creating a list.

I did find another website that also had a list of the top camera brands (the only one I could find) and the top 5 are the same as mine except that Panasonic and Olympus are switched. This shows (to me), with my small amount of research, that I was pretty accurate it my information. The website is http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/stats.asp. Check it out!!!

Please if you have any comments please let me know. I would also like to see if you have any complaints to this list and any other information. I would love to hear your opinion.

Thanks for reading,

M

For those who want to know some information on Digital Photography, well, look no further.

Digital cameras, at least the modern cameras that the public use (like Nikon, Kodak, Canon, etc.) have been around for about 15-20 years. Kodak, along with Kinko’s, Microsoft, IBM, and Hewlett Packard, helped with the new industry. Not only creating new cameras but creating computer programs were the users could upload photos to a computer. IBM helped with making the World Wide Web into Photo Mania. Hewlett Packard made the first Inkjet printer for these new cameras. There was a boom in the industry during the late 1990’s and now today, in 2010, there are over 30 brands of cameras with an estimated 900 million cameras in today’s world.

However the digital camera wasn’t just a new thing. The digital world has been around since the 1950’s. Bing Crosby laboratories was the very first to create the VTR in 1956. This was the basis of the digital camera. It was used for both TV and digital camera. However it wasn’t until 1969 when the Charge-Couple-Device was made which is the image sensor for the camera. It was created by George Smith and Willard Boyle. They continued to progress with this device until it was perfected.

The Sony Cooperation was the first company to make a prototype, which was in 1981. The camera, called the Mavica, which stands for Magnetic Video Camera, was a still camera that could record up to 25 images on floppy disks. This also continued to progress, now, in 2010, we can take as many as 900 photos on one memory card.

Digital Cameras aren’t just used for Personal Use’s either. NASA uses them to capture images using their telescopes. The new invention really opened many doors for science and other areas in everyday life. Now we have video monitors and we can keep track of what has happened. For me, it’s a hobby, but for many its their life.

Like I stated earlier cameras have progressed into a huge world-wide industry raking in about 8 billion dollars (more or less) per year. Now with economy down however it is projected that companies will make about 6.9 Billion dollars, which is still a lot of money.

Here are some photos of the early Digital cameras (you can find theses on Google Images):

Hello,

I haven’t blogged in a few months. I’ve been so busy! Throughout March I had so many birthdays and I just didn’t find the time to blog. And then in April I went to Gulfport, Mississippi to help out with Katrina Relief. That was an amazing experience, not only did I work and help people out but I ment so many nice people and I plan to go back next year. And now in May, its been even more crazier. I had my birthday, which was very fun, and I also didn’t find the time to blog since I’ve been busy with my life. However now I’m going to try to blog at least 3 times a week. I’ve also been taking tons of photos so I still need to upload some of them. I’m getting ready for summer. I can’t wait, I’ll be gone a lot but it should be fun. I’m going to go to Washington D.C. so I plan to take many photos.

Well thanks for following!!! Haha.

Snow

Hey All,

I’m going to the snow over the weekend and hopefully I will take some great shots. It should be fun!!! I’ve been packing tonight and getting all my gear  together. I’ll enjoy the time away from the busy work schedule and phone calls and emails. Just me and my camera….and of course my Open Mind!!! Haha, anyway I’ll blog hopefully on Sunday but more likely Monday. But when I do I’ll have some great photos!!!

Thanks,

M

This week has been really interesting. Sad and boring but also fun. I took a hike to Pt. Reyes Nat. Sea Shore on Monday and took amazing photos of the horse and the landscapes. However my batteries went dead so I can’t download the photos. I need more batteries!!!

Today I also took a hike around the open space and it was very cool. The nice breeze with the lush surroundings made it really fun. It was a long hike but fun all the same. On Monday I will try to put the photos up when I purchase batteries.

For now enjoy Life and Have an Open Mind!!!
